Book launch: cry of an echo by Malgorzata Stankiewicz
Unseen Amsterdam and BRADWOLFF PROJECTS are proud to present a weekend exhibition and the launch of the photobook cry of an echo by Małgorzata Stankiewicz (PL/CH). The book won the Unseen Dummy Award in 2017, and was produced by Wilco Art Books and published by Lecturis.

The project tells the story of Białowieża Forest: the last remaining primeval forest in Poland. Processing her images by masking, uneven development, chemical contamination and bleaching, the artist explores new threats to the forest's existence following a 2016 change in legislation that permitted intensive logging on the land.

At the opening, the artist will outline her project during a brief Q&A session, moderated by the head of Unseen Book Market, Daria Tuminas.

For this event only, artist Ola Lanko, who has ventured into experimental cooking below 0℃ with her new project Ludo & Hedo, will develop a special ice cream flavour with medicinal herbs found in the Bialowieza National Park. The audience will be invited to experience the transience of nature at a free tasting.

This special evening will continue with a live 30-minute performance by Dymph who will introduce her alternative upcoming album blu.

Publishers, designers and past jurors of Unseen Dummy Award will come together to talk about their practice, spotlighting a few photobook cases, and give feedback on participants’ dummies. Whatever stage of production they are at – be it a stack of photographs or an almost complete maquette – participants are welcome to bring their works for comment.

12:30-18:00 - collective reviewing of participants' dummies. This includes a one hour break for lunch. The instructor will give detailed feedback on each project and participants will be welcome to share their thoughts and recommendations.

Do you plan to submit your dummy to Unseen Dummy Award 2018 and wish to receive some constructive feedback or just want to meet and consult with our experts? Use this opportunity to join either one or all of the workshops. The deadline to sign up for workshops is 12:00 (CEST) on the 25th of July. Tickets are available on a first-come-first-serve basis as there are only 10 spaces available for each event, so please apply early to avoid disappointment. The fee per workshop is €60 (excl. VAT).
